Although not quite as cushioned as other shoes on the list, the 1080 is a plush sneaker with a bouncy ride. Even though it’s relatively lightweight at 9oz, the 1080—with New Balance’s signature Fresh Foam in the latest 8th version—doesn’t feel particularly fast. But besides that, it’s a great shoe. The 1080 hugs the foot well, can withstand plenty of mileage, and offers a smooth ride. Add in a flexible forefoot and plenty of breathability, and you have a shoe that will work well for nearly every under-pronating runner.
