An entry level (read: lower price point) shoe from New Balance’s motion controlled line, the New Balance 1340v2 is a reliable shoe with a good amount of pronation control. The 1340v2 has a supportive upper that wraps around the midfoot and heel beautifully, allowing the shoe to feel firm on the foot. The 1340v2 has a solid amount of cushioning—especially in the forefoot—that assists with shock absorption for those who hit the ground hard. The part that helps reduce pronation, the medial post, is long and runs from the heel to the forefoot, permitting a strong degree of pronation control. The shoe is solid, but nothing about it is best-in-class.
