Salomon S/Lab Sense 7

Like the S/Lab Ultra 2, this runner up to the best Salomon running shoe was designed for the elite athlete, only this time for trail running. The S/Lab Sense 7 is as light as a feather so it doesn’t weigh you down getting to the finish line and, like the other Sense models, is created to correspond with the runner’s natural gait. There are no corrective measures like a heel counter in this shoe and the heel toe drop is a minimal 4mm. Consequently, you get a great feel for the terrain and the EnergyCell+ midsole cushioning also gives plenty of energy return. The Contagrip outsole is here too but in the name of speed, the lugs are not too big and bulky. They give you the grip you need without slowing you down in the least. The inside of the upper is designed with Salomon’s Endofit sockliner, providing a welcome hug for your foot in this somewhat minimalist trail racer. The brand’s Quicklace system and a snug but breathable mesh round out the upper and complete a shoe that is the very essence of what an elite trail runner could want.
